Hybrid Shadowbox & Folio

Part shadowbox. Part album. One completely unique memory-keeping project.

The Hybrid Shadowbox & Folio combines two of my favorite ways to showcase memories into one book-style project. When closed, it has the presence of a beautiful display piece. Open it, and you discover an entirely different experience inside.

The left side features a dimensional shadowbox, with the front cover of the album incorporated directly into the shadowbox design. It creates a beautiful focal point for a favorite photograph, meaningful imagery, or embellishments that immediately introduce the story you want to tell.

On the right side is the folio, and this is where the memory keeping really begins. The folio is filled with interactive flaps, pockets, photo opportunities, and layered elements, giving you plenty of room to preserve photographs, journaling, memorabilia, and all of those little details that make a story worth remembering.

What makes this project especially fun is that it is ideal for creating a focused, single-story album. Instead of documenting an entire year or a broad collection of memories, choose one story and really bring it to life—a birthday, vacation, wedding, new baby, special person, holiday, milestone, or any event you want to preserve in its own special way.

It also makes a beautiful handmade gift. Imagine creating one around someone’s birthday, wedding, anniversary, new baby, or another meaningful occasion and filling it with photographs and memories specifically for them.

The project shown features my Fairies & Fireflies paper collection, but your paper choice can completely transform the theme. Use the construction as your foundation and make the finished project entirely your own.

The paper collection shown on the finished project is for inspiration. You can recreate my version or completely change the look and theme by choosing a different collection.
